The Beta party

Just so everyone knows, none of the items sold at the so called "Beta" party are real betas.

And AJHQ just straight up lies to us about it and says they are.

*epic facepalm*

Beta was in 2010. I joined in 2011 and played until 2013 until I quit for two years. None, absolutely none, of those items were in the game before I quit.

So they ARE NOT betas.

What do you think you are doing AJHQ, lying so blatantly to us? Seriously...

  1. mild correction: the very first beta stage was in the august of 2010, just prior to the release. however, there have been multiple other stages of beta-testing for various other features since.

otherwise, i agree completely. there's nothing wrong with having a tribute to the beta days, but ajhq is actually /encouraging/ fraud. this is absolutely unacceptable and in just the few hours since this party's release i have seen dozens of innocent people scammed. one person who tried to point out that they weren't betas was dismissed of being jealous and then threatened with being hacked.

i need to review change.org's policies to see if i can start up a petition to get the party taken down. i find it disgusting how ajhq claims to care but completely lies to their players.

thank you for making this post.

    1. Yeah I saw my typo after publishing lol. And I completely agree, this is doing nothing but encouraging scamming. AJHQ should also not be lying to the players. How can we trust them if they are going to lie to our faces (as well as ignore serious issues like cyber bullying and hacking).

I am very rapidly losing my love for this game and on the very of regretting purchasing membership again. I almost can't wait for it to run out.

    2. The sickest thing is that there are actual betas on display sitting around the party area, but of course none of them are for sale in the beta store.

    4. Yeah, Animal Jam is very quickly becoming a sad place where a lot of Jammers are unhappy for various and sometimes very serious issues. I know I am rather old for this game (I'm going to be 18 in under 2 weeks) and all of this bothers me very much. I can only imagine how upsetting and confusing it is for younger players who get scammed or hacked and receive absolutely no help from AJHQ when they try to ask for assistance.

It's just so sad and heart breaking. Animal Jam used to be one of the best free to play MMO games out there. Now it's just... disappointing chaos. :(

  2. They lie to us? That is silly! I liked this update until I learned the betas aren't real...

    1. I love that they made bees for everyone but why make fake betas?

  3. It seems kind of weird that AJHQ wouldn't pick up on the fact that so many players say things are beta but aren't, but I think it's less about them encouraging fraud and more them kind of making assumptions about us.

I think they don't really know that some people do look things up and measure beta by the actual testing period. I think they think we see the word "beta" as purely a type of design, such as the blocky and earthy style we all love. Which if you look around and try trading, begins to seem true about a lot of people.

So maybe it isn't really lying, but it still isn't helpful and makes things difficult. I don't see why they'd want to aid in scamming– all they'd get in return is a bunch of angry emails. It's more or less just them being a little confused, or at least thats what seems very likely.

    1. @DoomyPanda They're a group of adults who program games. They know what beta means and I'm fairly confident they can figure out what a beta item is. How can it be a design if it was used to describe the limited testing release of the app Play Wild, which has smooth, complex 3D graphics?
Let's take a look at the Jamaa Journal's view on this:
"Come relive the EARLY DAYS of Jamaa and see what Animal Jam was like during its BETA TESTING period. And while you're having a BLAST FROM THE PAST, be sure to pick up some exclusive BETA ITEMS!"
So, do you still think AJHQ is "confused"? Because based on the above passage I'm 99.9% sure that they're lying to our faces. Intentionally.
      @Naturerocks 123 Yeah.
My younger brother (alpacamybagsandg0) traded his Robot, Cami's Frog, and Orange Mat for a Beta Tiger Banner because the trader convinced him it was the first item ever released and that only nineteen existed in the game.
When he went to the party and noticed it was for sale he was actually crying.

    2. Ok I think I kind of understand what you're saying. I still think AJHQ was confused because all that would come out of them lying would be scams, and people lie because they'll get something out of that lie. AJHQ gets nothing out of that but angry emails.

The whole beta/rares system was created by players and players alone, and it's not the same all the way through. Anything that looks chunky and is out of stores people will say is beta, and because observation is all AJHQ can really do in that realm and because misconceptions exist everywhere you turn, AJHQ is bound to get some things very, very wrong.

AJHQ sees people saying stuff like traffic cones are beta, which they're not. AJHQ notices all the stuff people say is beta has that chunky texture and characteristic style. AJHQ releases items with "beta" in their name that have that characteristic style because style is how a lot of misinformed people determine whats beta or not. "BETA TRAFFIC CONE ON TRADE!" "BETA NERD GLASSES ON TRADE!" is what AJHQ sees in large amounts. It's what I see. A lot of people seem to see beta as only a style, not having to be in any way released in beta.

My main point: AJHQ made a big mistake that needs to be corrected, but painting them the way this post does doesn't tell the whole story. The whole story is needed so we can analyze what went wrong and work to change it, because change is exactly what needs to happen.

  4. I was so exited when I saw the beta party I joined during the beta days so I was pretty exited and I wanted to buy the items I never bought and I was completely pissed. The items were not betas at all and I'm pretty sure many jammers are and will be scammed, not just now but also in the future to come with these fake betas. It's pretty disappointing AJ did this.

    1. Well, Club Penguin just brought back bunch of their items that actually ARE rare. Maybe Animal Jam is trying to match that. After all, they are silent competitors for the spot of #1 Children's MMO, and both are coming up on their anniversaries (5 years for AJ and 10 for CP). Either way, the Beta party was a total flop.

  5. Yeah, I am glad they made bees for nonmembers, that is like... what... the first non-member pet since?.... You know what? I'm not sure, so lets say /a long time, AJHQ./ I think they heard all the nms complaining that they had to pay memebrship just to buy a tiny virtual pet and then they decided to make bees.
But still, AJHQ literally /encouraged the lie, and literally put it on the news (jamaa news)/. I joined sometime in 2012 (I think), and though I was never in the beta testing, I am majorly dissapointed in aj for doign this. So far, in the hour I've been on, I have seen one jammer scammed out of their actual beta by an item named "Beta _____".
HERE IS A HINT GUYS: If an item is named "Beta ____", it is not beta. If you want more proof, go to the wiki already :I
(I remeber, the last nm pet was the Joeys.)

    1. Joeys are nonmember but you have to pay REAL MONEY for the app in order to get one.

    1. The decorations are Beta. The items for sale are not. I will start to appreciate AJHQ more when they start to put in an effort more.

Honestly I am kidna glad there are no real betas for sale, becuase then people would have a fit, but I am /not/ happy AJHQ straight out lied about it...

    3. Bringing back high-demand "rare" items is really the only way to get people to snap out of a craze. For instance, at one point fox hats and gloves were considered some of the most rare, valuable items in the game, but then they returned to stores for one day and - BAM - they're worthless and almost nobody likes them anymore. The same thing should happen with spike collars, considering there are probably as many as 1,600,000 in existence and people still think they're "rare".
