Some bad things and one really cool good thing!

This is what my Animal Jam has become. I log in every day to nasty Jamaa-grams and AJHQ really does nothing, yet claims that their game is a safe environment for children.

I've been busy in real life, you know, going outside and enjoying my summer, until three days ago when I became very sick and had to be hospitalized with a potentially life threatening illness. When I got home from the hospital and had the strength to get to my computer, this was waiting for me in my inbox:

Obviously the chat filter prevents certain words from being said, but the meanings are relatively clear.

"Your moment is over/Your time is up (I'm not 100% sure what "wait and as" is supposed to mean).

"You should commit (something it's) suicide."

"How about you leave this place, bitch."

This person also send me a friend request. Like LOL no, why would I friend you when you threaten me. And for those who are not clear a death threat doesn't have to be direct "I'm going to kill you." Telling someone to commit suicide does fit into that catagory.

That was two days ago. And yesterday I got this. Not as bad but I have no idea who this person is or why they think I am mean.

I'm mean because I don't let scammers or bullies get away with stealing and lying and making people feel bad. LOL! I'm sorry but if you do any of those things you deserve to be publicly shamed, and not only will I shame you, I won't feel bad about it either. If AJHQ won't live up to their word to keep good Jammers safe then someone needs to keep track of, and inform, who the unsafe players are.

So yeah please report and block ivna22123 and possibly baconcarebear so they do not harass you as well.

I actually haven't seen that many scammers lately, but the bullies, wow they are out in force, and if it is happening to me then it is happening to other Jammers as well, and that worries me greatly, especially with the new Jammer Wall being released. I have already seen it abused as some of my friends have been harassed on it.

BUT SOME GOOD NEWS!

The user formerly known as blue54899 sought me out and apologized for the things he said and the threatening Jamaa-gram. He has a new username now, because he wants to start over. I am not going to reveal his new username (nor confirm any that have been speculated about) because I believe it is up to him to reveal that information if he so wishes. Also I do not want anyone giving him a hard time or harassing him for past actions.

You don't have to believe it is true or not, but until proven otherwise, everyone deserves a second chance. I admit I am conflicted how I feel on the matter, but I cannot deny that I truly appreciate his efforts in giving an apology. At least he tried and sometimes just trying is the most sincere and courageous thing someone can do.

So yeah sorry I couldn't keep up with the new and very cool update, I was very sick and bed ridden but I am getting better. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Stay safe Jammers! (Please forgive the many typos and grammatical errors in this post!)

  1. i have a lot to say.

first of all, i think it's /awesome/ that blue54899 has started over. the true mark of goodness is, in my opinion, being able to take the bad things you did, fixing them and then learning from them. kudos to him for taking responsibility and starting again! i wish him the best of luck in the future.

second, i recently 'adopted' an older sibling's member account, since i have had some... issues... with my identity lately. people making alts, pretending to be me and scamming. i won't be using baikalseal much anymore.

lastly, i would like to ask what you think of the 'jammer wall' feature. it seems like a simplified chat-room, which i don't really think is something good to introduce to children. but has it been helpful at all?

    1. I think the Jammer Wall is neat but there should be more security and safeguards on it, like, only allowing certain Jammers access to post on it, regardless if they are a buddy or not. There also needs to be something like if a bad Jammer leaves a nasty or inappropriate message that gets reported, then they should lose access to their own Jammer Wall, as well as being unable to comment on other Walls in the future or something. But AJHQ won't do that, that's a good idea after all lol.

  2. The card used to say "FAST AS A CHETAH!", but when I e-mailed AJHQ about the typo they changed it within a day.

So, the wonderfully observant staff at Animal Jam will rush to fix a mild error in their Jam-a-Gram, but they refuse to ban those who have been sending death threats.

    *slow clap*

    1. Yeah reporting used to work if multiple people would do it, and that was for such lesser crimes as scamming. But AJHQ really seem to be sitting on their hands with the cyberbullying. Paid membership or not anyone reported for proven cyberbullying should be immediately and permanently banned (and I know AJHQ can see all the chat records so they would know if it is a legitimate report or not). Too bad they seem to care more about getting money then the actually safety of children though. It's very sad.

    2. Apparently if 10 or more people report you for scamming, your trading and gifting will be disabled for a day or two. Then, of course, spelling out cursewords in your den using pillows (this was a New Jammer trend back in November 2014...dark times!) will earn an autoban, as will openly swearing or combining words to sound like swears ("as whole", "fog you", and so on). However, other than those minor actions, there is very, very little action on the part of AJHQ.

      It is indeed sad.

And I realise that there is no way to protect everyone on an MMORPG, but when you look at similar games like Club Penguin, WebKinz, Neopets, and so on, the violence isn't nearly as rampant, nor as intense.

  3. language warning, but I think "wait and as" is supposed to mean "what an ass".

  4. I'm sorry you had to go to the hospital, it's scary stuff when something like that happens. Also, I agree. AJHQ needs to start doing more, I've emailed them about bullying and other things similar to that when it happened to me, but they did nothing for some reason.

    1. Yeah Animal Jam really has gone downhill lately. I don't even think scammers are a huge concern anymore, not because it isn't wrong, but because more serious (and actual) crimes of cyberbullying seem so suddenly rampant throughout the game. In California, where Animal Jam is based out of, cyberbullying is a FEDERAL crime, and it blows my mind that AJHQ do nothing to stamp it out immediately when it is reported to them. As I said in a previous comment, perpetrators who do this in the game should be permanantely banned without question, regardless if they have paid for membership or not.

    2. @firetigerx

I am a Californian, and even though cyberbullying is a crime, it's very hard to deal with it. Some police officers don't even know what social media is, so when you call them to your house to report threats, they can do very little to help you.

I'd like to point out that Animal Jam is actually based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Even though I visit Kanab (southern Utah) quite often, I don't know the exact policies, if there are any, regarding cyberbullying and online threats.

Lastly, I completely agree with Animal Jam going downhill. No, it's not like Club Penguin (which I have played since beta testing), where the membership purchases are decreasing steadily and there are more budget cuts than ever. It's the community, filled with hatred and greed.

    3. Ah okay I thought AJ was based in California. Maybe I was thinking of Smart Bomb or whoever previously programmed the game for them! Anyway thank you for the info. Yeah cyberbullying is a real problem that real life organizations really need to catch up on knowing technology wise.

Yeah I am sad to see Animal Jam in such a sorry state. I mean, there's always been scammers and cheaters, but the cyberbullying is way to much, especially in a game that is supposed to be safe for children.I really hope AJHQ does takes it seriously one day.

    4. AJHQ is all about that profit.

Oh, and another common misconception is that National Geographic makes Animal Jam. It does not. WildWorks produces the game, Smart Bomb Interactive publishes it, and National Geographic KIDS is just an on-the-side partnership. So dubbing the game "National Geographic Animal Jam" is like saying you like the roller coasters at "Pepsi Six Flags Discovery Kingdom".

    5. Smart Bomb Interactive actually still runs AJ, they just changed their name to Wildworks Inc. If you go to the old SBI website, go to career options, it'll take you to Wildworks' website.
      But that's just a theory.
      A game theory.

  5. How mean! I have reported them both for Being A Bully AND Inappropriate Jam-A-Gram!

  6. At least Blue realized what he was doing was wrong.
I feel like I have to forgive him for that because it's one of the rare cases in which someone actually apologized for something they did.

  7. Someone with the username firekitty came to my den and told me I won and would get free membership forever, but I needed to give them my password. I said I didn't want it. It was an obvious scam.

  9. Random question, how much money have you made off YouTube?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Uh, absolutely nothing? I did not, and never have, made any money from my videos? I feel kind of insulted you even asked. You think I do this for money dude? Really?

      Delete
    2. There's been ads on your videos as of recent o3o
Sorry, I made an assumption, as is one of the most common flaws in human kind. You may want to contact YouTube about it, people are only supposed to have ad's on there videos if
      1. They put them on themselves
      2. They collect revenue from them

      Delete
    3. I guess my original comment should have been "Fire, since when were there ad's on your videos"?

    4. I understand being very sick must have been tough. Anyways I am disgusted that animal jam puts more attention into smaller problems like scammers and normal situations, yet they don't pay attention to cyberbullying like serious problems like suicide. Why can't AJ just look out for both?
I hope you are feeling better and have a nice day!

  10. Here's what prompted me to ask. So we were driving up to canada and I'm just watching videos and decided to watch one of yours, and t here was an ad on it. I didn't know you didn't activate it yourself. So I do apologize for this confusion, as I mentioned previously, you should probably contact YouTube since you didn't activate them.

  12. Well I am happy Blue has said sorry! I have reported Pink And Sand more than 2 times!

  13. I'm sorry you had to go to the hospital. I do have proof of what Blue's new account is, but I won't reveal it. I believe he could change if he really wants to, but I surely won't be apologizing to him anytime soon because the things he said to me were unforgivable.
But I hope you're feeling better soon.

  14. (slight language warning) Oh also, I think it meant "your mom is overweight and an ass".

    ReplyDelete
  15. (language warning)

It could either mean "yuor mom is overweight and an ass" or "your moment is up [you are] what an ass."

There is no reason for them to send these kind of things to you though.

  16. I think I might be overreacting... every time I see a post about someone threatening you I search them up and send them angry and threatening letters back.... I'm overreacting aren't I? O_O

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Um... YES. You are not only overreacting but you are in turn being a bully and breaking the Animal Jam rules. Do not send threatening Jamma-grams to people, especially in my name. Not cool, so very not cool. You don't have to take up a fight that is not yours and potentially risk your own account to get banned.

Do not harass and threaten people for any reason, it does not matter if you think they deserve it or not. Don't be a bad Jammer dude. No one deserves to be bullied, not even bullies...

  17. They're just said it cuz you want to stop scammers. Just report, block and ignore them.

  18. Blue always forgives someone, then bashes them unexpectedly. I fell for his apologies twice, and can never trust him again. Both times I fell for it he did these after gaining my trust:
    1) Framed me
    2) Attempted to find my address
    3) Swore at my family while they were watching me play AJ
    4) And told me to stab a knife into my head

I'm not saying you shouldn't trust him, but to keep vigilant. I'm glad at least he hasn't done anything to you!

  19. I'm sorry that happened to you. I like to have faith in humanity rather than assume the worst. It's how I keep going no matter how many times I am scammed or bullied. So hopefully he has changed for the better now.
